Buddhist mandala
Mandala (Sanskrit maṇḍala "essence" + "having" or "containing", also translates as "circle-circumference" or "completion", both derived from the Tibetan term dkyil khor) is a concentric diagram having spiritual and ritual significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism.[1][2] The term is of Hindu origin and appears in the Rig Veda as the name of the sections of the work, but is also used in other Indian religions, particularly Buddhism. In the Tibetan branch of Vajrayana Buddhism, mandalas have been developed into sandpainting. They are also a key part of anuttarayoga tantra meditation practices. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention of aspirants and adepts, as a spiritual teaching tool, for establishing a sacred space, and as an aid to meditation and trance induction. According to David Fontana, its symbolic nature can help one "to access progressively deeper levels of the unconscious, ultimately assisting the meditator to experience a mystical sense of oneness with the ultimate unity from which the cosmos in all its manifold forms arises." [3] The psychoanalyst Carl Jung saw the mandala as "a representation of the unconscious self,"[4] and believed his paintings of mandalas enabled him to identify emotional disorders and work towards wholeness in personality.[5] In common use, mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically, a microcosm of the Universe from the human perspective.[citation needed]
~ Silks are still selling as fast as I have been able to make them. Available silks are currently at Ottoman Trading Co. A new batch of hand-painted/hand-dyed silks are on their way to Ottoman Trading Co. Limited designs available but sooo worth having a beautiful hand-dyed silk. Nothing compares to the rich quality of pure silk. I only use the finest silks available imported from China, which are then hand-painted / hand-dyed using my proprietary techniques. I create silks in a variety of silk weights to meet the needs of beginning to professional dancers. I do not sell "imperfect" / color-flawed silks. I only sell the very best in colors and designs. Yes, all of my silks are washable without color loss, since I only use the finest quality of silk dyes and professional dying techniques to make the colors permanent.
If you need assistance navigating my newly designed website, or have any questions regarding ordering silks, please visit the FAQ page before contacting me.
I have elected not to take in custom orders at this time because I find it more rewarding, as an artist, to just allow the colors to flow across the silk instead of being confined to any particular color or design. Music and nature are my greatest inspirations, which allows for brilliant colors and fresh new designs. New silks designs are already being created for 2009! Stay tuned!
